March Happenings

So much has happened in a month's time.  The United States is facing a pandemic.  We are social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID19.  What does this mean for us?  Homeschooling, no dance, gymnastics, or sports, and lots of time together.  This has actually been really good for our family.  We have been forced into family dinners, puzzles, games, hikes, rides, and more. Homeschooling has probably been the biggest adjustment, especially for Matthew.  He has had a hard time working from home and just wants to watch TV and play.  I hope as we go on he will be more interested in schoolwork and I can help him improve his reading skills.  Since I've been home more I've tried to adopt some healthier habits.  I've been learning Spanish (I took 2 years in high school but am trying to learn more), reading, writing in my gratitude journal, and stretching, but I've also been eating too much and have been binge watching Netflix.  I think my favorite thing about this social distancing is the conversations I get to have with my kids.  My testimony has grown as I've studied Come Follow Me more and helped Connor with seminary.  Kadee and I have become closer as we talk about her future goals and aspirations, and I've learned so much about Matthew and Kinlee and what school has been like for them this year.  They miss their teachers and their friends so much and Kadee is upset that she probably will never go back to the middle school as a student.  She is missing out on all the middle school lasts: yearbook signings, Lagoon trip, Cheer banquet, and saying goodbye to friends.  I think everyone else is doing OK because next year they go back to the same school, but Kadee is sad she will be going to a new school without saying goodbye to the old one.  So anyway, I have been trying to organize my life.  I've been able to de-clutter before moving into the new house (we should be moving in about 2 weeks!), I've organized my email and pinterest, and have purged my Facebook of people that I don't know or don't like, haha.

We had a nice, quiet Easter at home.  On Saturday we went to the Coke Ovens in East Carbon and to the Buried Forest Trail just past Cat Canyon. It was a short hike and a beautiful day to enjoy this beautiful country we live in.  The Easter bunny managed to find us on Sunday and deliver some goodies to the kids.  It was freezing on Sunday so we had our Easter egg hunt inside but the kids still had lots of fun.

Since I have more free time on my hands than usual, I've decided to begin writing my personal history.  I don't know if anyone will care about my history when I gone, but I'd like to write it down for my kids to see someday.  I found a list on Pinterest of things to write, so I am going to begin with that list and then go from there.  It won't be in this post, but I'm going to try and compete the task within a month or so.
