True Blue

Rory in the Zion's Practice Center

Rory is a HUGE Jazz fan. Every game they have different contest numbers you can text to win prizes. Rory enters all of them and has been entering the True Blue Jazz contest every game. Well all those entries paid off, he won! There were over 25,000 texts and only 20 people actually won the contest. He got to pick his dream Utah Jazz job and picked security (of course).

Last Thursday he had already won Jazz tickets through the hospital so we asked Debbie to keep the kids over night so we could go to the game and stay at the Anniversary Inn (we stayed in the Sultan's Palace Suite). Since we were coming up anyway, they invited us to attend a luncheon that day and tour the Zion's Basketball Center. It was so amazing. We got to meet the owner of the Jazz, Randy Rigbee, got to see the Jazz locker room, practice court, and tour the entire facility. The lunch was amazingly good and it was so fun to see a place few people ever get to go to. That night we got to go to the game and were a little disappointed that both the Jazz and BYU lost in overtime.

Monday was Rory's actual game day so we got Connor out of school early and headed back up to Salt Lake. They had dinner for us in the basement of the Arena and then the Jazz Bear and dancers came in to say hello. Connor was so excited. He is a huge Bear fan. A couple years ago he got a free Jazz Bear DVD and seriously watched it every single day. He has wanted to meet the Jazz Bear ever since and I am so glad he finally got his chance. Bear sprayed Connor with silly string then let me take a picture of him with Connor and Rory.

After the dinner Connor and I went up to our seats (first row in the uppper bowl, suprisingly good seats) and Rory went down to the court to do security. He had such a great time. He got to high five the players as they came on the court and got to put his feet on the floor (a dream on his bucket list). At halftime they let Connor and I come down to the floor and high five the players and coaches as they came on the court. After that Connor said, "I am never washing my hand again!" I told him to take that memory and store it in his brain because he will probably never get to do that again. Rory got to stand down there the rest of the game and met some really neat people. They announced his name at halftime and I am hoping they give us a copy of the picture they took. We wish the Jazz could have pulled off a win, but it was an overall amazing experience and I am so glad Rory picked Connor and I to share it with him.

My favorite sign in the whole place. It was in the restroom of the Jazz Locker Room.

We loved seeing Rory on TV. What an awesome experience for all of you to have. Connor has told me several times he is never washing his hand again...but just the one hand so not to worry cause his other hand will be clean!!! I love that kid. I don't think I have ever met a kid his age that knows more about a sports team. He knows WAY more than I do. He will remember that game forever. You have been a busy girl with all the fun things you've been doing lately. And Rory is the luckiest person I have ever met. He wins stuff all the time!
