Flag Football

I want to first start off by saying Connor's baseball team rocked it this year.  They ended up taking 1st place in the Fall league and have improved so much from the start of the season.  Connor even got his first in park home run the last game from hitting a beautiful bunt. I have LOVED watching this kid play ball and I hope he is asked to be on the traveling team again next season.

Now that baseball is over we are onto football.  Connor's team is the Bronco's and his coach is Jeremiah Davies.  Last week Connor fell off a spinning thing at the school playground and landed on his back, so I wouldn't let him go to practice at all.  He was kind of upset and worried that he wouldn't get to play, but he played a lot last night and even got an interception.  He is really enjoying it and the other kids love that it is right by the playground so they can play the whole time.

Kadee, Kinlee, and I went to my friend Stacey's baby shower in Ferron.  It was the first shower the girls have been to and they loved it!  Kadee kept saying, showers are so much fun, I can't wait until we get invited to another one!  This shower was really amazing though.  They had delicious lunch and fabulous prizes for the games.  Kinlee helped Stacey by handing her presents to open and every time Stacey opened a gift Kinlee would exclaim, "That's adorable!" or "That's awesome!"  It was hilarious.  We had a really good time and it was so nice to be able to visit with Paola.  Her, Hyrum, and the twins moved to Provo, so we don't get to see them very much anymore.  

Kinlee and Matty continue to keep us on our toes!  They are very mischievous together but they make us laugh and are growing like little weeds!  The other day the girls were in the hot tub and they wouldn't let Matty get in, so he climbed in a bucket in the backyard and made his own hot tub!  He is one smart kid!

I decided to try a homemade moon sand recipe I found on Pinterest and it was an epic fail!  It was SO messy and stuck to the kids hands so bad.  They loved it, but it was a horrible mess to clean up.  Kinlee had gotten into my makeup (a daily occurrence at our house) and put on her own mascara, so that is why it looks like she has a black eye in the picture.

The Dirty Dash

One of my very best friends, Heather, asked me several months ago to run in the Dirty Dash on her team.  I agreed and started preparing, but it was completely different from what I expected.  Our team was, "Death By Dirt" and consisted of myself, Heather, her cousin Steffanie, her neighbor Jan, and Sandy Rauhala.  It was in Midway which is absolutely beautiful by the way.  We ran in the 2:00 heat and right off the bat there were 2 deep pools of thick thick mud.  I got my shoes completely stuck and had to dig around in the mud for them with people climbing over me.  After that there were hay bales to climb over, walls to scale, pools of water, trees to climb over, pipes to climb under and in, monkey bars, and at the very end there was a gigantic slide.  The race was a 10k took us just under 2 hours to complete, which with all the obstacles and people wasn't too bad.  We had a really good time, but I have been sore for 2 days now.  It made me realize that I need to work even harder to get my body in shape and I have started drinking a ton more water.  I don't know if I will ever do that particular race again, but it was a good experience (except for the pressure washing at the end, that just hurt!).

Where were you?

I was in my second year of college.  I had been house sitting for a lady I had met at Dr. Peterson's office (I worked for a local ENT through college).  I left her house early to go visit my mom at the college where she was working in admissions.  I turned on the radio and they didn't have much information, but they said a plane had crashed into the world trade center.  I think at that time they thought it was an accident.  By the time I got to the college though, the second plane had hit and they knew it was a terrorist attack.  I remember crying and hugging my mom.  I also remember sitting in the Jennifer Levitt Center watching the news with a bunch of other college kids I didn't even know.  We were poor college students so none of us had t.v. in our apartments/dorms.  That day changed my life forever.  It was the first time I realized how priceless freedom really is.  I was always patriotic, but my patriotism was taken to a higher level.  I had a new respect for our firefighters and policemen.  While others were running away from the chaos and destruction, they were running towards it. I am SO grateful to be blessed to live in the United States of America.  I am eternally grateful that I was born into freedom and that my children are free. 

Tonight for young women's, we invited Ned McCourt, a WWII veteran in our ward to come and talk to the girls about his time serving our country.  His stories were mesmerizing.  I could have listened to him talk for hours.  He told us some amazing stories, but one that really stuck out to me was that he rescued a black man out of the water.  All of his shipmates were screaming at him, calling him names, mad that he saved someone of that color.  The captain of the ship came down and yelled at Ned's shipmates.  He said everyone on the ship, regardless of color deserved to be on the ship.  It was a great experience to listen to him speak and I am so grateful for all the sacrifices our military men and women make every day.

Pre schoolio

Last week Kinlee had her preschool open house and today she started her first day of schoolio (as she calls it).  She was so excited and wanted to take her purse and toys with her.  I had to explain that we can't take toys to preschool, but they would be waiting for her when she got home.  She had a hard time deciding which backpack to take, but today we went with her Minnie Mouse one.  I can't believe my baby girl is big enough for school (even if it is only preschool).  Her teachers are Ms. Sarah & Ms. Kenzie,  I hope she is good and doesn't swear or tell them she hates them (her famous words whenever she gets mad or wants to get a rise out of someone).

After school Kinlee had LOTS of enthusiasm!  She absolutely loved it!!  She said, "I maked an necklace, and we played outside, and we had gummy bears!"  I'm so glad she loved it and I hope she continues to enjoy school.

First day of preschool!

Matthew's Blessing Day

Sunday we were finally able to give Matthew a name and a blessing.  We decided to do it after church in one of the extra classrooms in case he was fidgety.  After sacrament Rory ran home to finish the sloppy joes for the luncheon and I went to my cousin TJ's homecoming.  After the homecoming I met our family and friends in the classroom by the bishops office and Rory was no where to be seen.  I had my cell phone so I could take pictures, so I called him but he didn't answer.  Finally after several attempts to get a hold of him Hyrum offered to jump in his truck and run home to get him.  Hyrum was almost to the house when Rory called and said he had fallen asleep and was on his way.  He had worked the night before so he was exhausted.  He finally got to the church and stood in as Kyle made Logan a deacon.  After that I held Matthew on my lap while Rory gave him a name and a blessing.  They both did awesome.  Matthew held so still the whole entire time and Rory gave a heartfelt, wonderful blessing.  We were so blessed to have a huge circle full of worthy priesthood holders to stand in as well. After the blessing we took some pictures and went to Deb and Derk's for a luncheon.  We had sloppy joes, fresh garden vegetables, fresh fruit, yummy salads, and delicious desserts.  The kids all had a great time playing and we adults enjoyed visiting.  It turned out to be a perfect day.

Color Run Fun!

Today Rory and I, along with our good friends, Mike & Brittnee, and Travis & Sandy ran in the 5k color run.  We had so much fun and Rory and I definitely got chalked the most out of our friends.  We had all different colors of chalk from head to toe and every time we tried to avoid getting chalk thrown at us we got it worse.  We had pretty good times too, considering we walked a lot of the race.  The best part though was after the race was over.  We were talking just past the finish line and Kaytlyn Cripps came behind Rory and dumped a whole hand full of chalk all over the top of his head.  It was bright blue so he looked like a smurf!  He was a good sport about it but couldn't wait to get home to get it all washed off.  Fortunately it came off our clothes easily, but we still have some color that would wash off.

First day of school!!

Today Connor started 3rd grade and Kadence started 2nd.  Connor's teacher this year is Mrs. Gunter and Kadence has Mrs. Montoya.  They were both very excited, Connor didn't even say bye to me, he just ran out the classroom door to meet up with his friends.  Kadence was a little more nervous.  She kissed me and was kind of hanging back until she saw Jordan, her best friend.  After that they were out the door ready to play.  So excited for my kids and so grateful they both have amazing teachers this year!
